About the event

Eklektika, in the middle of a concert series that is raising funds for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), was surprised to receive a call from the organisation, who had noticed the donations they were receiving, and asked it if would be possible to have a video of the concert to show people in the Ukraine and those who have fled the country that there is support for their plight from ordinary community members in other parts of the world.

Eklektika & Friends has been performing 'Songs for Peace', a concert which arose out of our collective distress at the events in Ukraine, and from much that is happening in the world that is crying out for a peaceful response. The program features original compositions and arrangements by Judy Stubbs including settings to Ukrainian, Russian, Polish and Palestinian poetry, traditional songs from Eastern Europe, Spain and The Auvergne region of France, as well as re-imaginging iconic music by the Beatles, Prince, Radiohead and Purcell. Finally, there are several movements of a mass that Judy has written that borrows from both Gregorian and Sufi traditions.

Eklektika will be joined in this live concert recording by Rita Woolhouse on Cello, Ann Lehmann on Guitar and Matt Bourne on Percussion.

PLEASE NOTE: While not mandatory, masks are encouraged to be worn inside the venue, and socially-distanced seating arrangements where possible. Light refreshments will be available by donation during intermission.
