Music and Peace
Arising from the profound impact of the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian crisis in Gaza, and our deep sadness, Eklektika's Music and Peace concert is the ensemble's heartfelt effort to once again bring people together through music, in the name of peace - with all proceeds being donated to Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders.
This concert series was first performed locally at Thirroul in November 2023, with additional performances taking place in 2024 at Nowra School of Arts and Christ Church St Laurence - one of Sydney's oldest churches.
Music and Peace features arrangements from composers such as Bach, Mozart, Purcell, and Arvo Pärt, contemporary artists including the Beatles, Kate Bush, and Radiohead, and original compositions of a Latin Mass by Judy Stubbs that integrate diverse musical themes from Gregorian and Middle Eastern Sufi traditions.
Eklektika has been delighted to perform Music and Peace alongside cellist Rita Woolhouse, and percussionist Matt Bourne, with opening performances by Leaf Klevjer on Indian Tanpura. Our next Music and Peace concert will be held on August 3rd 2024, at All Saints Anglican Church, Ainslie ACT.
